Miles Away (poem)

~Miles Away~
Feel my sleeping mind waking up to a mirror/
I've got an image that's just too near/
Each world on the end of a dreaming wonder/
I've got the hand -- I'm still a wander/
Losing my identity, isn't it such a question?
Every time an Earth is lost & my mind crosses
a next page to find my family plot/
Forgetting about today until tomorrow.
Please don't spoil my day,
I'm miles away,
each time I stare out the window
& sit on the dock of the bay,
please don't walk my way,
I'm myself in this haze.
Against the blade of grass that could act
Born awhile a time ago before anyone knew
Banging the lagging plane as I smoke my fag
When drags are a million miles of narrow
Inexistent pictures sinking out of waves & away
Mind I've seen drifts easily a thousand light-years
Impressions lifted from forgotten tomorrows.
Please don't spoil my day,
I'm miles away,
each time I stare out the window
& sit on the dock of the bay,
please don't walk my way,
I'm myself in this haze.
